The Sturgeon Rural Crime Watch Association takes part in the Annual Provincial Rural Crime Watch Association Poster Contest. School aged children throughout rural Alberta are asked to share their thoughts on Alberta Rural Crime Watch and Alberta Fish & Wildlife Protection in their posters.

Approximately 10 schools from our Sturgeon County with students in grades one through nine are able to participate each year. Their posters are judged into two categories: Hand Drawn and Computer Generated. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners are declared in each category who best demonstrates crime prevention or crime awareness.

Winners are locally presented with monetary prizes. All local 1st place winners are sent to the Alberta Provincial Crime Watch Associate Poster Contest where the Posters are reviewed and judged. The Provincial Association awards 1st place with a plaque plus $65.00, 2nd place with a plague plus $45.00, and 3rd place with a plaque plus $30.00. 1st place provincial winners also get the honour of having their posters included in the Annual Rural Crime Watch Calendar.

POSTER CONTEST 2012

The annual Poster Contest is open to all students, grades 1-9 in rural communities.  Posters can be HAND DRAWN or COMPUTER GENERATED (CG) , but the CG posters MUST show original content by the student as well. Incorrect spelling automatically disqualifies a poster.

  • ‘R.C.M.P’.

Posters need to represent what RURAL CRIME WATCH/CRIME PREVENTION means to each individual.
