Note from the SRCWA President

Hi Everyone,

As you know, our AGM was on March 14 and that was also the night of the elections. Norm and I had decided that I would not take on a second term.  And because of the stage we are at in our lives we have also decided to resign as Zone Directors for Zone 7.  

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new President – Bonny Swart-Attwood.  Bonny is from the Bon Accord area and is also the Zone Director for Bon Accord and Gibbons. I would ask that our board as well as the general membership support Bonny the same way they supported me.  It is a big undertaking but it is made a lot easier if members are willing to help. Being President of SRCWA has been an incredible experience.  It was a huge learning curve but one that I really enjoyed.  I can say I enjoyed it because I had Norm’s full support as well as the members of our amazing board. There was no hesitation when it came to everyone doing their part.  A strong cohesive group and I expect that to continue.  So much has been accomplished in the past three years and that is because everyone was willing to work. 

We do have Zone Directors and other positions to fill and I wonder with near 800 members if some would like to step forward and help out.  The more members we have on board the less work it is for individuals. 

I have many Thank You’s – beginning with our Board – I cannot Thank you enough for your willingness to help out and for backing me completely. 

To the County members – Susan, Tom and Cecile, Patrick, Protective Services and the county staff – the support for our group has been immeasurable.  We must be the envy of the other 52 crime watch groups for the support we have received. 

The RCMP have also been there for us- be it pulling  the float, coming to our meetings, giving presentations with me or making sure we received information to fan out.  We have always been able to count on them. 

We have had a very successful three years – but you all know a President is nothing without a really good group of people to work with. There was so much accomplished and that is because you all did your part.  I think you should all be very proud of how much you have done. Keep up the good work.
