Good Morning,

On June 22nd, 2018, Morinville RCMP received a report of a Break and Enter and theft to a business situated at 23110 Township Road 570, in Sturgeon County. The victims were first alerted by their security company of an alarm. The victims then attended the business site and observed the locked compound gate open as well as a man door to the business office damaged and forced open, indicating a point of entry. Two offices were ransacked, however other rooms appeared untouched. After inventorying the business, the security system including the hard drive storage unit, industrial gas monitors, were taken from the business, amongst other items.

Police believe the break-in happened between 5:45 am and 6:00 am.

Athabasca RCMP investigate shots fired

Athabasca, Alberta - On June 22, 2018, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Athabasca RCMP responded to a report of a shooting in front of the Grand Union Hotel and Bar in Athabasca, Alberta.  Witness information states that a group of 4 unknown Native males was approached by another unknown Native male.   When the lone male exited a dark-colored SUV vehicle and approached the group of 4, a physical altercation broke out.  The lone male was able to break free of the altercation, and someone was overheard stating “I’m going to shoot you”.  A moment later, a shot was heard.

The 4 males got into their Green GMC ½ tonne pickup truck and left the area, turning North on Highway 813.  It is still unknown if anyone was injured in this incident, as no victims have come forward.

The direction of travel of the suspect male was not known.  The suspect was described as a heavyset Native male wearing glasses, a red shirt and wearing dark clothing.  The suspect male was last seen in a dark-colored SUV.

Athabasca Theft from Mail

Athabasca RCMP - Theft from Mail
Perryvale, Alberta - In March, 2018 Athabasca RCMP assisted Canada Post investigation of theft of mail by the Post Master in Perryvale. On March 15, 2018, the female Post Master was caught in personal possession of mail delivery items with a tracking device and a matching serial number. The Post Master was subsequently arrested for theft of mail. This matter is ongoing in court.

4-H Banquet/Award Night

The anual 4-H Banquet/Award Night was held in Legal June 22, 2018. SRCWA members were invited and the ceremony was amazing and the food was delish. They outdid themselves with everything.  A big thank you to the 4-H Club.

  So let's work together and get the word out, that someone does not fit in your community. I have your back and l am on your side to help, l am working on this.

Sturgeon County had been hit again by several Break and Enter. This e-mail is to advise you that a property on Highway 651 / Range Road 240. This property had been hit already 8 times in the last years. Nothing appears to be missing this time but damages had been done to one of the buildings.

Calahoo Heritage Day Parade June 2, 2018

Heritage Days in Calahoo:
We attended the parade with our float, it was a great turnout, there was a Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Hall where more than 300 people enjoyed a fantastic meal.  The float was towed by Sturgeon Protective Peace Officer Mel , Ken, Bonny, Louis and their family members were on hand to greet everyone along the trail of the parade.

Break and enter into residence:
Sometime between 0800hrs-1800hrs,  A residence near Range Road 241, east of Lily Lake a residence was broken into. A street bike and a truck, as well as jewelry, mall electronics, and other small valuables, were taken from the residence. The file is still under investigation.

Range Road 244 south of Namao
RCMP Attended residence and found a garage door to be the entered. Nothing of major value was taken, just golf clubs. The file still under investigation.

Morinville RCMP Arrest two males for Possession of Stolen Property

Sturgeon County, Alberta -  On the early morning of May 27, 2018 Morinville RCMP were conducting targeted patrols in the area of ProNorth Industrial Park in Sturgeon County when they completed a traffic stop with a suspicious white Dodge Ram truck. Police checks confirmed the vehicle was registered to a male with a suspended driver’s license and a number of outstanding warrants related to break and enters in the ProNorth Industrial Park.
During the traffic stop, Morinville RCMP entered into an investigation of possession of stolen property, as a number of construction tools and industrial black insulated copper cable were located in the vehicle.  Subsequently, the driver and passenger were both arrested.
Morinville RCMP completed follow-up patrols and were flagged down by a victim of a break and enter.  Property belonging to that victim was located in the possession of the driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle.
The driver, Kevin ROTH, of Edmonton, Alberta has been charged with the following new offenses:
·         Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 x 2;
·         Criminal Code 129(a) – Obstruction;
·         Criminal Code 259(4) Unlawfully operate a motor vehicle in Canada;
·         Criminal Code 351(1) – Possession of Break-In Instrument;
ROTH is also charged with the following offenses related to outstanding warrants:
·         Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime exceeding $5000;
·         Criminal Code 430(3) – Mischief exceeding $5000 x2
·         Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation;
ROTH remains in custody until his next court appearance in Morinville on June 14, 2018.
The passenger, Timothy MAMMEN, of Edmonton, Alberta has been charged with the following offenses
·         Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 x 2;
·         Criminal Code 351(1) – Possession of Break-In Instrument;
MAMMEN was released on bail to attend court in Morinville on June 21, 2018.

With the help of advanced analytical tools and increased resources, the Alberta RCMP’s Crime Reduction Units work diligently to focus on the type of crimes that rural residents feel the most: property crimes committed by a small number of repeat offenders.

Athabasca RCMP - Aggravated Assault with Firearm in Calling Lake

Calling Lake,, Alberta - On June 3, 2018, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Athabasca RCMP received a report of a male suffering gunshot wound in the leg. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported to the hospital via STARS Air Ambulance. Witness statements describe the lone male suspect as a slim, native, wearing black hooded shirt, black baseball cap and track pants. The suspect quickly left the scene in a vehicle shortly after the shooting occurred. Athabasca RCMP are asking for the public assistance to locate those responsible.
