Mailboxes broken into
There have been several reported incidents of Mailbox break ins recently. Highway 2 and TWP RD 570 has been broken into for the second time in as many weeks, also has been reported in Morinville in the Sunshine lakes area. If you notice any thing please report it to the RCMP, or if you have any information please contact them. You can help to protect yourself by getting your mail every day so the thieves will only be finding empty mailboxes.

Morinville RCMP Seek Information regarding Discharge of Firearms
Sturgeon County, Alberta – On August 19, 2018, around 8:00 p.m. Morinville RCMP responded to a firearms complaint at the Goose Hummock Golf Course. Staff/golfers reported hearing gunshots for a couple of hours and that two golfers had reported a stray bullet landing near them at the north end of the golf course. A ground search was conducted of the area but no bullet fragments were located. Witnesses reported that the gunshots were coming from north of Goose Hummock in the area of TWP RD 564/564 and HWY 28. No one was injured and RCMP does not believe this was an intentional act.
Extensive police patrols and neighborhood canvassing north of the golf course did not locate any suspects.
The public is reminded when discharging a firearm to do so in a safe direction ensuring that they are 200 yards of any occupied building (section 52(1) Wildlife Act, Alberta).

UPDATE - Arrest in Armed Robbery case
Update - Male Suspect Now Arrested and Charged in Armed Robbery at Jingler's Pub in Gibbons, Alberta
Gibbons, Alberta - As a result of further investigation
the male suspect was located, arrested and charged with the Armed
Robbery at Jingler's Pub. In the afternoon of August 15th, 2018 Owen
Stuart GRICE of Edmonton, Alberta was located and arrested and was
charged robbery with a firearm, have his face masked while committing an
indictable offence, and possession of stolen property both over and
under $5000.00.
On August 16th, 2018 Owen Stuart GRICE was remanded into custody
and is set to appear in Morinville court on Thursday August 23rd, 2018.
It was with the cooperation of the Edmonton Police Service and the
Alberta Sheriff Investigational Support team the investigation came to a
safe and successful conclusion.

Armed Robbery
August 13th, 2018
Gibbons, Alberta - On Monday August 6th, 2018, at approx.
1:00 p.m., Jingler's Pub in Gibbons, Alberta, was robbed at gunpoint by
an unknown masked male. The male made off with a significant amount of
cash and a purse from one of the patrons of the pub. The male ran from
the establishment, jumped into a stolen silver Toyota Camry which was
later determined to be driven by a female accomplice.
On Friday August 10th, 2018, Morinville RCMP General Investigation
Section with the assistance of the Sheriff Investigative Support Unit,
located and arrested 46 year old Nicole Dawn LOEWEN of Edmonton and
charged her with robbery with a firearm and possession of stolen
property both over and under $5000.00. LOEWEN is set to appear in
Morinville court on Thursday August 23rd, 2018.
Morinville RCMP is still seeking the public's assistance with
identifying the male involved in the robbery. If anyone has any
information with respect to this persons identity and whereabouts to
please call the Morinville RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Break and Enter
A property located near RR 234 and TWP RD 561 has been hit by possible
break and enter where a generator was stolen. No suspects on the file
and the owner believes it is not the first time that someone came on the property. No further information are available on this file.

Break and Enter
Morinville RCMP are currently investigating a Break and Enter to a
residential garage located in the area of Range Road 251 and Township
571 Sturgeon County. A vehicle was used to back into the garage door to
gain entry to the garage. The vehicle looks to be a newer model 4 door
GMC truck, white in color. The incident occurred on July 5, 2018 and
was reported to Police on July 8, 2018.
