Morinville RCMP respond to rural home invasion
Gibbons, Alberta – On August 10 in the early morning hours, Morinville RCMP were dispatched to a home invasion at a rural property near Gibbons. Unidentified masked individuals forced entry into the home and stole property from the home, including the homeowner’s Van.
Late in the evening on August 9 three or four males wearing gloves and masks broke into a rural property. One of the suspects was armed with what is believed to be a shotgun. The homeowner was tied up while his home and property was ransacked. After the suspects departed, the homeowner managed to walk to a neighbouring property to seek police assistance.
The 68-year-old homeowner suffered only minor injuries during this incident.
The items that were stolen from this residence were likely known to be there by only a few people. It is believed that this was not a random, but rather a targeted occurrence and that the suspects came prepared with a trailer.
The Morinville RCMP continue to investigate this occurrence with the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Section.
