Feb. 15, 2018
Athabasca RCMP arrest male with firearm after theft of ATV
Calling Lake, Alberta – On Feb. 12, 2018 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Athabasca RCMP located a male riding a stolen ATV from a previous break and enter that was reported in Calling Lake.
The driver attempted to flee on the ATV but got stuck in a snowbank. Police identified the driver as he fled into a field carrying what looked to be a firearm.  
Members along with the Emergency Response Team - Edmonton (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PDS) assisted in the search for the male who was not immediately located. He was taken into police custody the next day without incident. Police seized a loaded .22 calibre rifle.
Joel Houle-Auger, a 27-year-old from Calling Lake:
 
·         Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
·         Pointing a firearm
·         Resist Arrest
·         Flight from police
·         Possess weapon while unauthorized (x2)
·         Break and enter (x3)
·         Mischief (x4)
·         Possession of Stolen property under $5000 (x5)

He was remanded into custody after a hearing and will be appearing in Edson Provincial Court on Feb. 20, 2018 via CCTV.

As this matter is now before the courts no further information is available.
