FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  2016-03-15
THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLES - POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY
In the early morning of March 14th, 2016 Morinville RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in a residential area in the Town of Morinville.  The suspects were entering unlocked vehicles and stealing various contents within.  Morinville RCMP were able to quickly locate the suspect vehicle and apprehend two adult males and one adult female.
One male and female from Barrhead, Alberta and one male from Clyde, Alberta were each arrested and charged with 8 counts of possession of stolen property not exceeding $5000 and one count of possession of break in instruments.
The Morinville RCMP would like to thank the public for calling in this suspicious activity.  As a result of this investigation stolen property from the Barrhead, Westlock, and Spruce Grove areas was recovered.
Some crime prevention tips are as follows:
  •  Make sure your doors are locked when you leave your vehicle, especially if your vehicle will be left alone for a  while.
  • Small items like sunglasses, money, electronics, should be stored in either the console, or the glove compartment of your vehicle, so it isn’t in plain view from outside, or take it out of your vehicle all together.
  • Take out all items of great value.
  • If you have anything on your seats that you are leaving behind, cover them with something that is applicable like  a jacket or if you have a blanket, anything that would make it hard to see.
  • Make sure your alarm system works on your vehicle.
  • Do not leave your keys in your vehicle when you are away from it.
  • If applicable park your vehicle in an area with good lighting.
