SRCWA #2016055 - Break & Enter- Charges Laid

On April 23, 2016 at approximately 9:30 am Morinville RCMP responded to request from Westlock RCMP to assist with an all terrain vehicle (ATV) believed to be stolen and involved with other property related crimes.

After abandoning the ATV the suspect attempted to flee the police on a stolen pedal bike, but after encountering mechanical problems with the pedal bike he tried continuing his escape on foot.  After a brief foot chase the suspect was apprehended in the Town of Morinville. 

Through the joint investigation, Jay Evan CARIFELLE of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of break and enter from the Town of Westlock. He has also been charged with two counts of breaching his recognizance after being released from custody for similar offences in the City of Edmonton two days prior. Additional charges arising from the incident in the Town of Morinville include: three counts possession of stolen property (including the stolen ATV), resisting arrest, fleeing police, and driving an uninsured  and unregistered vehicle on a highway.

CARIFELLE is scheduled to appear in Westlock Provincial Court on April 27th, and Morinville Provincial Court on April 28th, 2016.
